Common causes

  • Charge air leak, or cooler outlet tube off the throttle body
  • Iced charge air cooler in extreme cold
  • Wastegate solenoid valve stuck, frozen or contaminated
  • Wastegate actuator, hose or linkage fault
  • Bypass valve solenoid not closing
  • Exhaust leak ahead of the turbo, or restriction
  • Turbocharger internal damage
