Direct injection
A fuel system that sprays fuel directly into each cylinder instead of into the intake port.
Direct injection (often written GDI or DI) gives the engine computer precise control over how much fuel enters each cylinder and when, which helps power and efficiency.
The trade-off is that on a cold engine some of the spray may not vaporize, and can reach the cylinder walls and the oil. That is one route by which fuel dilutes engine oil.
